If you ever wanted to peek behind the curtain at Victory Brewing to see how they make their delicious beer, you better get your butt to Downingtown pronto.  As of July 4th, Victory will no longer be conducting brewery tours, and if you’re one of the folks who loves their beers, it’s all your fault!

Most EPIC Beer Commercial Ever!?

This one has been floating around the interwebs for a while now, but I thought I would share it for those of you who might not have seen it before.  It clearly demonstrates how beer is made so awesome!

Guy Catches Foul Ball in His Beer, Drinks it Like a Man

Click the pic to watch the video at MLB.com Over the years, I’ve removed many foreign objects from my beer.  A few weeks ago it was a decomposed leaf, and this past weekend it was a gnat that decided to take a dip in my Prima Pils.  But Gerry Burke is a league of his […]

Ommegang Hennepin:

In this case a picture is worth a thousand words.  I want to first of all say I drank this beer, it was good.  I’ve had better saisons that I liked a lot more, but this was good.  For me it hit right in the middle of the great beer/bad beer continuum.   It was drinkable. […]

Denver Rare Beer Tasting III: Pints for Prostates.

Well it is getting to be that time of year again.  Time to dust off the old liver and really give it a go at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF).  This will be Jim and I’s second trip to Denver for the event, and I am looking forward to it more this year than […]

Man Drinks 48 Beers On His Birthday, Figures It Was 10 Too Many

It’s good to know your limits, even if you occasionally exceed them.  In the case of James Taylor (not the Sweet Baby variety), that limit seems to be 38 beers.  I won’t lie – that’s pretty impressive. Unfortunately for Taylor and the family who had to see his exposed genitals on a Hudson, Florida beach, […]

Well the weekend is almost upon us and it is Father’s Day on Sunday.  What are your plans?  And what will you be drinking?  I’m thinking about taking my youngest fishing on Sunday and perhaps relaxing with a nice drink and a great cigar.  I have just received a new bottle of Wild Turkey 81 […]

Bad Beer in the Air

I’m out of pocket today, in San Francisco for work. My boss and I flew in last night, and I had the pleasure of flying first class (I highly recommend doing this, especially when work pays!). Last time I flew, it was business class on Lufthansa to Germany. I think I was spoiled by the […]

Guess Which State Has the Best Selection of Craft Beers?

When it comes to craft beer, more is definitely more, especially when it comes to the variety of brews available where we live.  A bigger selection means more new beers to try, a more educated palate and…uh…a more better life as a beer geek. I’ve come across a spreadsheet put together by a fella who […]

Selkirk Abbey Brewing Company: The Birth of a Brewery.

My friends Jeff Whitman and Rob Wallace invited me up for a little get together they had at their awesome mancave a couple weeks back.  These guys love good beer!  And they are taking their love to the next level.  The mancave was designed to be a brewery with a members only club in the […]

Craft Beer: The Next Microsoft?

We all know that Craft beer is great for drinking, and some of us are lucky enough to make a living in the craft beer industry, but what about the masses?  Craft beer is getting all grown up, and like a kid wearing a tuxedo for the first time, people (with money) are beginning to […]

Beer Tasting: Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA Desconstructed 12 Pack

Sometimes experiments provide unexpected results.  Taoist monks set out to create an immortality pill and wound up creating gunpowder.  Scientists tried to create a drug to stop chest pain and wound up creating Viagra.  Sam Adams set out to showcase how individual hops affect the flavor of beer only to demonstrate that there’s a good […]

Pabst Blue Ribbon: A Hipster’s Paradise Lost

The crumbling remains of the Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery may be foretelling of this brand’s future.  Pabst Blue Ribbon has gone from blue collar, working class staple to almost extinct, to a resurgent hipster brand that has been closely identified with the folks who look like they are the product of a grunge artist and a preppy. […]

There Goes the Future: We’re Schooling the Next Generation

We never imagined this would happen.  It turns out that our little blog is being used as a teaching aid in college course – it may or may not be at The Ohio State University – the Google is a little fuzzy on this. Anyway, they created a blog to explore “Representations of the ‘Family’ […]
