Over the years, I’ve removed many foreign objects from my beer. A few weeks ago it was a decomposed leaf, and this past weekend it was a gnat that decided to take a dip in my Prima Pils. But Gerry Burke is a league of his own and has the video evidence to prove it.
Gerry was sitting behind home plate at Fenway Park drinking a beer (I’m hoping it was a Sam Adams or a Harpoon, not some macro crap) when a ball curls back, skips off the rail and makes a beeline for his beer. Gerry quickly shakes off the shock, stands up and celebrates, taking a nice swig from the cup like any manly fella would.

Beer & Whiskey Brothers 
This actually happened at a game I went to at old County Stadium in Milwaukee. It was the first time I’d gone there, when I was 10 years old, during the Brewers’ 13-game winning streak to open the season. I think they were playing the Rangers, and someone fouled a ball back behind home plate. One of the guys in the luxury seats reached out from under the overhang and caught the foul ball with his beer, effectively splashing everyone with (presumably) Miller Lite in the section below him.
He got a standing ovation. That was my introduction to baseball in Wisconsin, at age 10- a guy getting a standing O for catching a foul ball with his beer. I don’t think anyone actually cared about the Brewers winning.
Sounds like a pretty perfect Milwaukee moment!
Naah, it would have been perfect if he had a brat in his mouth and a box of fried cheese curds in his other hand.
The lady with the Red Sox jersey sitting in front of the guy cracks me up. Everyone else has a pissed look on their face from being sprayed with beer. Not her. I don’t think this was her first rodeo, she has definately had beer poured on her before. I bet she was remembering her college days at that exact moment.
I thought most of the folks who got splashed rebounded nicely, even the kid in the green shirt. I wasn’t sure which way he was gonna go…
