I’ve been drinking a lot of Dale’s Pale Ale lately, using it to soothe my gimpy back. Last night I found myself up in the mancave with a can of Dale’s and no glass. Now, I’m fanatical about using glassware when drinking beer, and have been known to take a bottle out of someone’s hand […]

It seems like you can’t throw a can of Old Chub in Colorado without hitting a beer geek, but an incident in Colorado Springs on Monday shows us just how small the world of craft beer nerditry really is.

Here you see the implement of torture my dietitian has me consuming in an attempt to get my glucose under control! Yes, the Galligan brothers come from a long line of diabetics, and having my luck, I’m the one with all the fat and all the sugar in my bloodstream! Recently it has gone a little […]

Here’s a little too much information for you… …I was having a bathroom break this morning when something entered my “stream” of consciousness. My back is really bad right now, and I had a few Victory Prima Pils last night to take the edge of the pain. I chose it because it’s tasty, it isn’t […]

There was some discussion last night on Facebook about the Budweiser 9/11 advertisement that aired a couple of times during yesterday’s football games. I think it is pretty clear that we are no fan of big beer around these parts. I’d rather drink water than some of the swill that many of the big beer […]

Last night I spent my evening watching Tony Romo do his thing (choke in a big moment) and my Jets do their thing (come up impossibly big with their backs against the wall). During a break in the action, the same insipid beer commercial played for the umpteenth time – dude, you passed the bar […]

I’m happy to say that we’ve suffered through the lockout, the finger pointing and the posturing and bigtime pro football is back for most of us (sorry Peyton). Last night’s game between the Packers and Saints was a great start to the season and it even ended the right way, with a victory for the […]

Someone was kind enough to post my letter to Brew Dog over on the beer section of Reddit.com. As I was perusing some of the responses to it, one in particular caught my eye. It was from a fella in the U.K. who provided a whole new outlook on why Brew Dog keeps pulling these […]

This photo was taken by Sam Adams drinker Jeff Dodge after Hurricane Irene blew a tree over onto his recycling bin. When the dust cleared, one bottle remained, impaled up to its shoulders into the trunk. Say what you will about Sam Adams’ beers, but there’s no denying that they use quality bottles! I guess […]

Here is a really interesting video interview with Sam Caligione from Dogfish Head Brewery by Bloomberg Business. Shows the entreprenurial side of Sam. http://www.bloomberg.com/video/72805872/#ooid=1sYTRvMjoE8bTzRglikfl-TPe_VLJYbv

Dear Martin and James, I give up. I’ve railed against your over-the-top concoctions for the past couple of years. For some reason I ALWAYS feel compelled to post about your silly “stunt beers,” getting myself into a froth about how you are exploiting the pure nature of craft beer to make a name for yourselves. […]

This is a tale of two breweries. Two breweries separated by 2000 miles and almost as far apart philosophically. The thing that brings these two breweries together is a love of great beer and the desire to make it well, and they both do. Seeing as they both make great beer, we can actually drop […]

Here’s a nice infographic created by Gene Ullery-Smith showing the good and the bad when it comes to beer stats. Already a beer nerd, Gene is just getting started into the wonderful world of whiskey, so perhaps he’ll be a regular in these parts (or just stick around long enough to figure out Don is […]

I came across this “Vice Tax” doohicky put together for TurboTax by the folks over at Five Column Media using stats from 2008. It’s pretty interesting to see which states are pro-alcohol and which states are pro-alcohol-tax. New Jersey seems pretty reasonable, taxing spirits at $5.50 a gallon and beer at 12 cents a gallon. […]

Where we had lunch, and home of the world’s most giant urinal. The world’s most giant Urinal. This picture doesn’t do it justice, but this was like peeing into a sarcophagus. And count them! That is seven urinal cakes in the bottom! Bottling line. More Tanks and Pipes Lagering Tank
