This photo was taken by Sam Adams drinker Jeff Dodge after Hurricane Irene blew a tree over onto his recycling bin. When the dust cleared, one bottle remained, impaled up to its shoulders into the trunk. Say what you will about Sam Adams’ beers, but there’s no denying that they use quality bottles!
I guess that’s one way to oak age a beer… 😉

Holy whuh!
Exactly!
That shows one hell of a lot of commitment! Just look what that tree had to do to get a drink.
Yeah, all that for a light beer!
Jim,
You may be on to something here, light beer aged in oak.
I think it’s a must-do – Nature gets what Nature wants!
That wasn’t from from Hurrican Irene, it was from an angry bear that likes his beer a little more malty than a Sam Adams Light.
A dissatisfied customer who shoved it into a tree? Could be…
How much beer does it take to get a tree drunk? Does the fact it’s a stump matter?
Yes, stumps have less tolerance to alcohol than full trees, just like dudes with one leg.
