The fine folks over at Finances Online have pumped out another interesting beer-related infographic, this one featuring a world traveler (let’s call him “Steve”) who trots around the globe discovering which countries drink the most beer, which countries pay the most (and least) for a beer, and which country spends the most on beer per-person (hint: they travel in fried out combi’s on a hippie trail with heads full of zombie).
At the end of the infographic they even share the world’s most popular beer, which I wouldn’t have guessed if you gave me 100 tries. Interesting! Worldly! Easy to cut and paste and create a post!
Beer & Whiskey Brothers 
Given all the good beers out there to choose from, can you reasonably explain why Bud & BL are in the top five? Is it anything more than good marketing?
Massive international scale. It’s why Pizza Hut likely sells the most pizza on the planet, and why McDonald’s sells the most burgers. It ain’t quality, it’s ubiquity!
A little surprised that some of the hard core Muslim countries even showed up. That is one great infographic. This also shows that any company that gets a good foothold in China is likely to sell a lot of whatever. The only Chinese beer I’ve ever tasted is Tsingtao and is was very lackluster to me. We are spoiled with all the microbreweries in the USA.
I agree – it’s a great infographic. Good story telling and strong and interesting data.

I think this whole thing is bogus. For example, where is Belgium in all this?
My guess is they are in the middle in all categories, not high or low enough to be included in any of the stats. The USA only appeared because it was edited in – we didn’t make any of the meaningful stats, either.
Plus, A-B InBev is a Belgian company, so I guess you can say they’re in the “most popular beers” category…
Are the Chinese beers made from barley, rice, or a combo?
They’re actually brewed with rejected iPhone parts…

Ewww, it is definitely not quality beer! Marketing all the way, can ya say Super Bowl without thinking Budweiser?
I can say “Super Bowl” without thinking of Bud, but I can’t think “Spuds Mackenzie” without seeing a bow tie logo in my head (and feeling old).
This is beer and whiskey BROTHERS right? Wheres my boy Don ? Anyway i’ll start with: I’m dinking a $10 dry hopped sour (Funky Gold Mosaic, Krebs brewing, OK) This infograph is all about per capita. 3 of the top 5 best selling beers are brewed in Asia. China is #5 in the cheapest beer. Considering the US has 3 of the top 10 best selling beers, while only in consuming are #14 (I know; I only have three a week Dr. I’mlyingitswaymore) we are still #6 in spending on beer. Asia countries out of the top 10 in both consumption and spending. Now with this said I’d like to think its the craft brews who are raking in the dough. Its either come full circle or the buffalo theory is kickin in, on to the Brown Buffalo Rye’d (Buffalo bayou Brewing, TX) to finish off those stupid slow brain cells. Watcha say DON!!!
Don has been getting his bar off the ground to support his family and has abandoned his brother and friends as he works at that #selfish! 😉
If this infographic tells us anything, it’s that craft brewers need to get their stuff to Asia – it’s a gold mine!

Don is opening a bar? Hes always made me feel welcome. He should “untap,” ,that asian market. He would fit right in in Bankok, servin up West Coast IPA next to Oyster Stouts all the while enjoying his single malts in the South Pacific. Although he will have to give up his infamous taco tuesdays. Not sure why but it just feels right
