Flying Dog’s Raging Bitch Gets Its Close-up on “True Blood”

HBO’s True Blood lost me after Season 2, when everyone starting turning into fairies and wood elves and whatnot, but I might just have to start watching again after a very special appearance in last night’s episode.

It seems that the writers of the show prefer craft beer over synthetic vampire potables, and decided to write one of their favorites – Flying Dog’s Raging Bitch – into the show. Word from the brewery is that this wasn’t a paid placement, it was an organic display of admiration for the beer, which enjoys a score of 88 on BeerAdvocate.

As you can see in the clip above, Sam agrees, endorsing it as being “pretty fu<#in’ good.” The scene also suggests the Belgian IPA has the power to lure a redneck out of the woods, which is good to know.

No word yet on if any characters on the show will transform into flying dogs, but given the other crazy crap that’s happened over the course of the years, I wouldn’t be surprised to see one chasing Sookie through a swamp sometime soon.

There’s no word yet on whether or not A-B InBev’s Rascal’s Wild Red will be featured in any future episodes of the CW’s Vampire Diaries, but given their recent track record, anything’s possible.

I think its more likely the Minataur from Season 3 ( I think) will transform into a Black Crown.

I’m glad I didn’t watch season 3 then, because if I saw a minotaur, I’d likely throw a beer glass through my TV! Vampire were enough, people!!

Also, Werepanthers. It reminded me of when I spotted Stone IPA in a couple episodes of Weeds. Wasn’t sure if it was paid “product placement” or not.

I remember the Stone in Weeds, when they were in So. Cal near the border.

It’s like a game for me now – spot the beer!

Here’s some subtle product placement. I would add that I thought he handled the item adroitly and appropriately:

Thank god I stopped watching this show. Why does Sam have to explain to Terry that he owns a bar? Last time I watched Terry worked at Merlotte’s as the cook. What a crappy show.

I also used to play “spot the Stone” in Weeds. I saw it in various fridges throughout the show, even when the moved away from SoCal.
