I loved tinkering with LEGOs as a kid. I used gears and pulleys and axles to make some neat stuff, some of which were pretty resourceful feats of kiddie engineering. Look mom, the helicopter blade AND the tail rotor spin when I turn the handle! I’m totally a genius!
Well, looking at the video above, I now realize I was more like a cavekid proudly showing his cavemom how he could break one rock with another rock. Oog mom, one rock now two rock. Nandor ugh geeenus!!
What you see in the video above is the work of a grown up who goes by the tag Nxt1engineer, who is obviously a little obsessed with LEGO Mindstorms, which features programmable motors and switches and…stuff.
In true nerd engineering fashion, Nxt1engineer has spent months of his life assembling thousands of dollars of LEGO gear to achieve something I can do a 10 seconds using a $4.00 bottle opener. But that’s not the point here – this is nerd porn of the highest order and I salute it.

That’s all well and good as a nerd demo, but a person could die of thirst before this thing was finished!
1) Why put ALL THAT EFFORT into opening a lousy Heineken? For that particular swill, said inventor should invent a machine to simply break the bottle and use it in a bar fight, as intended.
2) Less (or better yet, no) Lady Gaga. Nerd or not, no excuse.
