A Valentine’s Visit to Victory

Valentine’s Day is almost upon us, and I think this is going to be my best one yet, at least as a craft beer geek.  My wife and I are abandoning the kids and heading out for Downingtown, Pennsylvania for the weekend to visit the Victory Brewing Company.

Will you Be Mine? Yes, oh yes you will!!

As many of you know, Victory was one of my favorite brewers before Don and I visited their brewery last May, and that trip only served to solidify my admiration for Bill, Ron and the rest of the crew.  That’s because their brew pub shows just what enormous beer geeks these guys are, sporting all sorts of funky selections on tap that you can’t find anywhere else.  The food there is also creative and delicious (but not pretentious) and I can’t wait to try the Golden Monkey pork sliders!  I’m going to gain five pounds in two days.

It’s rare that my wife and I do anything big for Valentines, but I’m attending a bloggers brunch for their new Headwater Pale Ale on Sunday, so we decided to make a weekend out of it.  I’m really excited to spend some quality time with my lady while eating and drinking my way into a mild coma.  Good thing they have decent cab service in Downingtown.

Are you doing anything special for Valentine’s Day this year?  Are you going to be at Victory this weekend?  Either way, let us know below, and happy Valentine’s Day!

You have me craving a jerk chicken grinder now!

That’s definitely on the menu for this weekend, Mike. And those awesome pretzels they make, too!!

I must say their Baby Back Ribs didn’t suck, and I think you need to have the Gyro Pizza on your radar as well!

        • February 10, 2011 at 12:45 pm #

I don’t think the gyro pizza is on the menu anymore. I looked for it. Several times. 😦

Lucky Dog! What if the Headwaters is just average? What if it sucks? Do you get it for free? How many people are showing up? Are they shutting the place down for the event? or will you be just another face in the crowd? Details man!

It’s a bloggers brunch, so I’m sure there will be bloggers there. I know Lew Bryson should be there and I hope to meet some other folks we know face to face as well. My guess is it’ll be in the meeting hall there and the beer and nibbles will be free.

And I’m confident that the beer Victory is brewing to commemorate their 15th anniversary won’t suck, Don.

I forgot all about Valentine’s Day. How about that?

Sounds like a good time, Jim. Are they putting out an anniversary beer in bottles?

    • February 10, 2011 at 12:49 pm #

Yeah, I think they are bottling – it’s a wide release and that’s why they are inviting the great unshaven masses. Why else would you invite a group of stinky bloggers to your nice brew pub?

    Jim –

I’m going to try to make the brunch. Any details? I couldn’t find anything on Victory’s website, Twitter, Facebook, etc…. Or is this invite only?

    Cheers

Looks like it is invite only – I’m contacting Victory now. Cheers!

Yup, it’s invite only, but I’m sure Anne can hook you up. Let me know if you need any help and I’ll do what I can.

Thanks Jim. I did send her an e-mail, hopefully I hear back.

Sounds cool. I meant to get down there over the summer but it never happened. Might be able to squeeze it in before Wife births our kid, squeeze it in before she squeezes it out. The 7 months of having a DD have been glorious.

Not sure how far of a drive this would be for you (very close for me) but it looks like a good time and I’m really looking forward to it –
