I’m Hoping Its a Boring Weekend…Whatcha Drinkin’?

The last few weekends in my household have been, to put it mildly, eventful.  We had a wedding of my Son last weekend, wedding prep the weekend before, the weekend before that we were in Coeur d’Alene running all over the place, and on and on.  This weekend I want to be bored!

I want things to be slow.  I want to remember what it was like to not have anything critical that had to get done.  I want to feel at peace with the world and just be.  I don’t even think I will mind if I feel bored.  Is a matter of fact I want to feel bored.  I want to take a nap and wake up and realize that it was ok to take the nap.  I want to then stay up late and watch movies with my kids.

The only thing on my agenda this weekend is tonight when I go over to my new in-laws to help them load the kids up in the truck for their move across the state Saturday.  Then Saturday I need to take my son to get a haircut, and get his football gear.  Other than that there are no plans, and thank God!

I have a lot of treats to drink in the fridge.  I have some black heffeweitzen from the collaboration of Brooklyn Brewery and some German Brewery, I have an Imperial Stout from Avery, I have a Back in Black Black IPA from 21st Amendment, and a Coconut Porter from Maui Brewing.  All sound good, and some will be consumed (maybe all).  I have a bunch of Whiskey too.  Nothing new but some things that have been calling my name, like Elijah Craig 12 year old.

So I hope it is boring, and I hope I get the chance to drink a number of those brews and some whiskey.  How about you?  Any plans?  Maybe some home brewing? What will you be drinking?  Let us know in the comments!

I’m with you, bro. I’ve been away from home for a couple of weekends now and I just want to go to the lake, crack open a Dale’s and not worry about breathing in mom’s second hand smoke. I’m also looking forward to catching up with friends.

I might pick up some Kentucky Spirit for the weekend as well, curl up in the mancave, fire up some Top Gear and enjoy being in my natural environment.

You already finished your second bottle? Wow, you need to buy more whiskey. If you like the burn from the KS, try Buffalo Trace. It has the longest finish of just about any 90 proof bourbon out there. Not too spendy either. About $25. Enjoy your night at the lake!

Sounds like a great beer lineup Don! I’m hoping that you’re weekend is as boring as possible! Me, not sure yet. Someone is challenging me to a ‘who can eat the hottest buffalo wings’ contest tonight and so I suppose that may determine the course of the rest of the weekend.

Enjoy the toilet Scott. Just remember if it burns going in… 😉

I was looking forward to a lazy weekend at home – and then I saw that Victory put their Saison du Buff on tap at the pub. So much for that plan.

A lazy weekend at Victory is even better, Mike! Sometimes I have dreams about their jerk chicken sandwich and their nachos…

You are lucky to be able to live in Downingtown, PA and get to the Brew Pub at Victory. If I lived there I would have a bar stool in the shape of my ass! Enjoy!

I wasn’t even thinking about lunch, Jim! This might be an all afternoon event. Don, while Victory is close by, the Sly Fox is closer. That’s the place with my ass imprint! Thanks!

It must suck living in the Pennsylvania Beer Corridor. 🙂

Probably going to head down to Hangar 24 in Redlands, CA. and snake me a pint of their Alt-Bier and a growler of their 2nd Anniversary Ale. Then after that I’ll probably hit the whiskey the rest of the weekend. Maybe some Rare Breed and some Elmer T. Lee.

Sounds like a great plan Brandon. You seem to be liking the Hanger 24 a lot. Must have some good brews there. Can you smoke a stogy there too? Perhaps on a deck or something?

Oooh – their Gyro Pizza – that was amazing!!

Yeah, they all taste good to me for some reason. No, if they allowed cigar smoking I wouldn’t leave that joint.

Another Saturday by the pool beer tasting – its actually “Dudes Day” tomorrow as all of wives/girlfriends are spending the weekend at the Jersey Shore; a day of beer, steak and cigars. On tap for tasting: Stone Sublimely Self Righteous, Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza, Dupont Saison; Brewdog Punk IPA, Allagash Interlude, Meantime Porter and a few others for sure.

SSR is good, but not geat. The Meantime Porter is pretty good too. Meantime makes some good brews. What are you having for cigars?

    • August 20, 2010 at 1:23 pm #

Nice lineup, Rob. But if the ladies are away, who’s driving the cars? 🙂

I know that SSR is just OK but have to try it to say I did. Meantime has been on my list to try for sometime and now is the time. As for cigars, I used to be a huge cigar buff and would smoke weekly but since my father-in-law passed away a few years ago (he was my smoking buddy), I kinda lost the urge to have one. I will partake from time to time and I saved an OpusX that was in his humidor when we cleaned out his house. Today marks the 3rd anniversary of his death and I was going to smoke it in his honor.

Jim – lucky for me, I live less than 1 mile away from my buddy’s house so I can stumble home if need be.

        • August 20, 2010 at 2:12 pm #

That’s great – a beer nerd buddy with a pool within a mile of home. I’d walk there if I were you. 🙂

Its a great deal but I’ll never be able to carry all of the beer that I promised to bring if I walked.

You should have your buddy come pick you up at your house load up the beer, then walk home! See that way there is nothing for the New Jersey State Police to gripe about! 🙂
