Its Friday!! Yeahhhh! I don’t know about you all, but it has been a hell of a week! For me it started on Sunday with a 6 hour drive to small town Idaho so I could be there for meetings at 9:00am Monday. I have earned my weekend, and I will take it!
I have picked up some lower shelf offerings last weekend, and will continue the trend this week. I’m thinking some Ancient Age Bourbon. My research on this tells me it is smokey flavored with high rye content. I’ll see for myself. I also want to swing by the Boise Co Op and browse the Beer Aisle. They have the best beer selection in the State, and carry a lot of Rogue Brewery products. Maybe a Dead Guy Ale or Stout will be in my future. They also carry the Laughing Dog Brewery products out of Sandpoint Idaho. I have a bottle of their Dog Father Imperial Stout I’ve been waiting to open, might add to it another selection.

Football is here, and the Packers have their second bye week in a row as they face the hapless Detroit Lions! WooHoo! So crack open a cold one and enjoy! Have a great weekend from Jim and Don at BW&B.
Beer & Whiskey Brothers 
I’ll be picking up a Vermonster (before it’s renamed “Kill the Lawyers”) as well as some other Rock Art selections. I’m toying with the idea of making next week “Rock Art Week” reviewing one of their beers every day. We shall see.
As stated below, I strongly suggest you all pick up one of their beers as well to show your support.
Yes, I need the weekend too! I am picking up 26.5 lbs of grain for a monster brew I’ll be making on Sat.
As far as beer itself…hmmm. not to sure. Kind of broke so that will influence my purchases, but intend on buying the SWUS brew, and hopefully a couple of sours. Been in the mood for imperial IPA as well.
Watch out, Nate! You said “monster” in your post referring to a beverage. You can’t be too careful these days.
Hope you have a great weekend and I wish I was making beer. Instead I’m cleaning the garage and tidying up the homestead in preparation for a visit from our folks.
The good news is the beer fridge just so happens to be in the garage!
Haha…I should watch my mouth. I wish I could get my hands on some Rock Art for support…it just doesn’t ship around here.
You should just jump into homebrewing. You can start off for very little money, depending on what you already have lying around the house. It’s addictive though! (the process, not the booze…ok, maybe a bit on the booze side).
Tonight is all about wine. Getting together with a few buddies – putting some steaks on the grill and opening a few (a few too many actually 🙂 ) bottles. There will be a Sea Smoke (SB Pinot), a Kosta Browne (Sonoma Pinot) and a couple of 1994 Napa Cabs which should be amazing….
May be taking tomorrow off after that but taking the kids to an outdoor Octoberfest on Sunday – beer and bratwurst are guaranteed.
Need to start teaching the 4 year old to drive….
Sounds like a great weekend Jeff! Enjoy the steaks, those Napa Cabs should go great with them! ’94 must have set you back, unless they are out of someone’s celler. I just went crazy at the Co Op. I got a couple of cask conditioned ales from England, a Bourbon County Brew from Chicago, and Dogzilla Hop Stout that sounds really interesting from Laughing Dog Brewery in Sandpoint, ID. Plus a couple of Rogue singles Dead guy and something else. Finally got a Fresh Hop IPA from a Brewery in Ontario Oregon, Just a few miles from my house called Leafer Madness that I’m looking forward too as well. Not opening them all at once like you, but should keep me going for quite some time.
They have amazing reflexes at that age, Jeff. Teach ’em young!
I’ll be drinking what ever is being served… after paying for the tickets to the Life and Limb Release beer dinner, I’m tapped! Good thing I got my beer cellar!

Jim always goes for the Victory Storm King Stout when in doubt. I saw that on your cellar list. Hopefully they will have some interesting brews at the dinner! Enjoy!

I’d hit the Maui Stone Kona Coffee Macadamia (I’m jealous again) or the Storm King. Anything rich and warming.

I hit the top shelf tonight since it is so drab out tonight, the 18yr cask strength Bruichladdich. Neat. It warms your heart and soul.
Happy to report that the 94s will be coming from someone else’s cellar. Although I am contributing the Sea Smoke which wasn’t cheap.
What cask conditioned ales did you buy?
I’m sorry, I’m new at the beer thing. They aren’t cask conditioned they are Barrel Aged. The Bourbon County Brew is aged in, you guessed it, old Bourbon Barrels, and then there is a Beer from England which I can’t remember the name, but I remember the price! $12 for the bottle, (22oz) it is aged in Oak. Not sure if it is new oak, wine barrel oak or whiskey barrel oak. I’ll have to do some browsing on the Internet. 🙂
Just picked up a new BIB to try. Got to love trying new bourbons.

Steaks finishing on the grill- about to hit the 94s. Beautiful night in San Jose – still about 75 degrees – dinner outside in shorts in October. Almost makes my property tax bill make sense 🙂
Hope you had a great time! Sounds wonderful. Meanwhile I just dropped my son off at the optimist football games (he’s a ref) and the termometer in the car said 39 degrees! Yow..Winter is coming! Hard to believe just two weeks ago I got sunburned at my kids football game and it was about 90 degrees at noon. Turnd on a dime in Idaho!
BTW That also helps my property tax bill make sense too as it is just about $100 per month 🙂

For me, I had an Aryinger Oktoberfest. Something I haven’t tried before, I’ve been a little disappointed with the imported Oktoberfests compared to the domestics, but this one was very nice.
I’m trying to get rid of the swill beer that I got for my Birthday last month, so as I was working in the garage I had an Amstel Light, and last night I polished off the Kokanee. I’m hoping to have the Dogfather Imperial Stout tonight or with Football tomorrow. We’ll see.
Very Old Barton. Opened my first bottle last night. Very Good. At 6 years old and BIB it spanks everything in its price range. 11.50 a 750ml
Picked up a bottle of Old Overholdt last week. I’m going to try to have some of that tonight.

Good to see you here! I’m jealous of the VOB case you just picked up. It is something we can’t get in Idaho. Enjoy it, it is quite the score for your bunker! Nothing has gone as planned for me this weekend. So far I’ve only had a Kokanee and and Amstel Light! Not exactly a steller weekend for the drink around here. We’ll see if I can fix it tonight.

I love the boise co-op. That’s where I buy beer when I visit. When we visit my wife’s parents, we’ll have to get together. They live in Mountain Home.
That would be cool Michael. The Co Op is great, but their selection is a bit limited, compared to what is available in the east. They tend to focus on regional breweries, and some European stuff, but that is about it. If you get too far afield from rogue or Deschutes Breweries what they carry is really hit or miss. But by far the best in this state. Let me know when you are coming out and we can meet for a brew. There are a few good craft breweries in Boise, and a couple good bars with great selections. Might make a visit to the in-laws a little more appealing!
