Discovery’s Brew Masters Cancelled
Well this just sucks. I have it on good authority that Sam Calagione’s Brew Masters has been pulled from the air after just a handful of episodes. It was good to see craft beer on TV while it lasted I guess.

Our buddy John over at The Droid You Are Looking For brings the science on this one, with a series of infographics showing how his level of inebriation affects his willingness to watch different kinds of films. The results are funny and very insightful.

My Brother’s problems with sour style ales has been long, storied, and well documented, on this blog at least. But I think I learned a little something about his and my taste last year at the Great American Beer Festival. While we are very similar minded on many brews that we like, I think I […]
I love Black Licorice. I mean I will climb trees for the stuff. If someone said there was a bag of it on the roof I’d have my ladder out in a flash and make my son climb up there and get it for me! (what else are kids for?). I love the stuff, but […]
Well the New Year is here, and I’m in the mood for change. Not change for change’s sake, but change for the better. Here’s how I plan on being a better, more sensible beer nerd in 2011:
True to my word I did pick up a bottle of Sam Adams Infinium Ale to ring in the new year. The ball was dropping and my taste buds were filled with anticipation with what wonders might be inside. As I took off the cage that contained the cork of the 750 ml bottle I […]
Milwaukee! At least according to The Daily Beast, who recently published a list of America’s Top 40 Drunkest Cities. Milwaukee residents drink about 13 adult beverages each month on average, nudging those teetotalers from Fargo, North Dakota by about four ounces of hooch a month. It makes sense that Milwaukee is the winner as […]
It’s the end of the year, which means it’s the start of statistics season. The first noteworthy report I’ve seen is from Mintel Intelligence, which highlights some interesting trends.
It’s back to work today after a long holiday weekend, made longer by the two feet of snow that was dumped on my part of the world Sunday night. Looks like that white Christmas I ordered arrived a day late. No worries, as the kids and Daisy the Wonder Poodle had an awesome time playing […]
I’ve given this a little bit of thought over the holiday, and realize that we don’t have a clear definition of the differences between a Beer Nerd and a Beer Geek. Not that this is that important in the course of world events, but it keeps us busy, so what the heck… A few weeks […]
For many of us, today is the last day of work before the holiday, which means today is kind of like a Friday (just a really cool one). With so much revelry ahead, we want to know how you’ll be celebrating and (of course) what you’ll be drinking. I’ll be enjoying be Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey, […]
Back again! Instead of doing a traditional Christmas day countdown like in the songs, I thought I would just describe my day and let you put things where you think they belong. First this is the view off the balcony to my room. I know it is a parking lot, but they gussied it up […]
I was reading an article on time.com about how smart and successful Sam Calagione is (of course) when I came across an interesting fact. Guess what the best selling “craft-style” beer is? You’ll never guess, not in a bl…uh…never mind.
Christmas is a time for giving, and this weekend I learned just how nice it feels to give someone a special beer, even someone who drinks Budweiser.
