Yesterday I posted about Ashley Payne the Barrow Georgia School District English teacher that was forced to resign based on this photo of her on vacation in Europe. Her transgression? Well drinking BEER of course! So clearly this is patently unfair.
UGH! Well I think it is time to put some pressure in her behalf back on the School that let her go. She is suing through the courts to get reinstated but this process has gone on for over a year now and she hasn’t been able to get another job in her area.
Jim and I were talking yesterday, what could we do to try and get her reinstated? Then this morning like manna from heaven I received this comment from Juan D.
The teacher deserves her job back. I think we should blast the schools email and fight for her. Craft Beeer enthusiast should look out for one another. What say you?
I say, that is a great idea Juan! So the next step was to figure out an e-mail address. Email the principal at dmcgee@barrow.k12.ga.us
If we are persistent and hit it hard, he will be compelled to bring them to the attention of his fellow administrators. Let’s get this message out that they need to reinstate Ms. Payne. Beer is not a crime, and shouldn’t be treated as such.

C’mon Ken. It isn’t reasonable to expect someone who has lived the whole life in a place she obviously loves to move to a completely different part of the country so she can start all over. She drank a beer, not pole danced! She need to be reinstated IMO.

Oddly enough they look like regular folk. But they have their priorities all screwed up.
I think you’re riding this one a little thin. She is lawyered up so I think she’ll do just fine. There isn’t any question about improper termination here if the facts are consistent with what has been shared. There could always be something the media doesn’t know about at play. For example, maybe she is an alcoholic and the school board advised she had to go through a rehabilitation program to keep her position and this photo surfaced. This is completely made up and there probably wasn’t any good reason to fire her, but it’s one of many scenarios that may have led to her firing.
point taken. But I think there the school administration is being nefarious about this and dragging it out unmercifully. So I though what the heck, see if we can spur them a little. Sometimes its fun to be a spoon and stir things up a little. 😉
