Well, our Boomerang Beer Poll has cooled off enough for us to say it’s time to do a final tally. We feel pretty good about the results this time, as they tend to jibe more with reality than our previous attempt at this.
It seems that California and Colorado are America’s two powerhouse beer states, followed by Michigan in third place, which surprised us a bit. Not because we don’t think it deserves it (Michigan makes some amazing beers), but because we discovered that we’re not the only ones who think they’re doing great things in the Wolverine state.
Last time we did this poll Pennsylvania dominated, but that was due mostly to clever social networking by some industrious folks from PA.
This time around we tried to keep the poll out of places where lots of folks from a single state congregate online. We think it made for much more solid results.
Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll and commented about it here and other places around the web. You folks sure know your brews and brewers, and many of you proudly support your local beer scenes, which is terrific.
If we ever do something like this again, we think it might be cool to see what happens if we allow for you to vote for all of your favorite beer states, not just one. After all, there are many choices on the shelf from all over the country. We think these results would be pretty interesting. What do you think?
Cheers!
You bastards! How did this one slip through the cracks? So not fair 😉 PA shall rise again!
Haha! Yes, Dave, YOU are the industrious social networker I was referring to!!
Boy, things sure do go nuts when you put it in your digital pipeline. victory has very loyal and wired fans, that’s for sure.
“Wolverine state?” As a native Michigander and State grad I beg to differ…….
I meant, uh, the Spartan State. And as a guy who went to high school in Romeo, MI, I can also call it the Bulldog State.
Anyway, in a fight between a Wolverine, a Bulldog and a Spartan, the dude in the skirt wins, so no worries, right?
As was evidenced this week on the gridiron as well… 🙂
