Well, there’s apparently more than one way to achieve lift off at the Dallas Fort Worth airport. The video above was shot Tuesday morning, as a drunk driver decided to go through the tollbooth by going OVER the tollbooth.
After she landed, she exited the vehicle, pulled out her cellphone and called a friend as her car burned itself out of embarrassment. Oh, and she was arrested for driving under the influence as well.
This is a great way to illustrate why I don’t drink and drive. I never could’ve stuck the landing!

UPDATE: I just realized the folks over at the Dallas Observer used “Drunk Driver Goes All General Lee” as their headline. Oops – so much for being original! Still, I think Smokey and the Bandit is a better choice, because they were haulin’ beer!

Funny! Mine always said, let me have your child.
It is funny, but only because no one got hurt. Had someone died it wouldn’t be all that great. So I’m happy no one got hurt.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t always happen that way. In a town just north of me two people were killed by a drunk driver over the weekend. It seems to be happening more and more.
Do you think that kind of stuff is going to eventually lead to the Prohibition of alcohol again?

I don’t think we will ever have to worry about Prohibition ever again, at least not in our lifetimes. Seems the pendulum is swinging the other way, and I expect within 10 years that Marijuana will be legalized, with all but the most conservative states allowing its recreational use, and selling it, and taxing the bejesus out of it. I’m not saying I’m a proponent, but I’m thinking that drunk drivers will eventually get less and less tolerated (death penalty perhaps…3 strikes and you’re gone), and our society will continue to get more and more liberal towards the recreational use of alcohol and drugs.
I think things are getting better, not worse. Drunk driving used to be no big deal, but that has changed over the recent years. I’m more concerned about prescription drug abuse, especially when mixed with alcohol. That seems to be on the rise.
