Help Support Online Beer Sellers

As you know, some very nice places to buy beer online have been hit with a really unfair policy from FedEx and UPS, who are now refusing to ship beer to places they ship wine.  It’s a ridiculous policy and it needs to be changed.

There’s a Facebook Page up that’s been designed to put pressure on UPS and FedEx to allow beer lovers the same access to their favorite beverage that wine lovers enjoy.

Here’s a link: http://tinyurl.com/yzpz6gf

Please check out the page, become a fan and help spread the word.  Let’s do our part to make sure the joys of craft beers can be freely shared from sea to shining sea. Thanks!

Yet another example of the gastronomic snobbery against beer over wine.

I think in some ways, though that wine might have paved the way for beer in this argument. If they just said no never to beer, then their justifications for shipping wine are weakened. I think they have painted themselves into a corner, and eventually will need to change their policy.

It’s funny. Making wine at home was legal right after prohibition and beer home brewing wasn’t legalized until 1979. I think a lot of this stuff has (or had to) do with implicit class distinction attitudes among the drinkers of these beverages. I wouldn’t say wine paved the way. I think I’d say that (some) wine drinkers set up a blockade. As far as the policy goes, it’s completely arbitrary.

Interesting perspective. Maybe we can hit them over the head with their blockade.
