Head Cold–Day Seven

Well it seems like this thing is actually dissipating. I put it to the test last night.  I couldn’t take it any more.  I opened a bottle of Sierra Nevada’s Celebration Ale and gave it a go.  I figured it was pretty hoppy with 65 IBUs so some of it should have gotten through right?  Well they did.  Not as intense as I remembered when I did my review a couple of weeks ago, but they were there.  The trace of cinnamon I got out of the last round that was completely gone with this head cold.  That definately did not get through.  I did appreciate the beer though!  Now maybe a little whiskey tonight and hopefully by mid-week I’ll be back in shape to do some reviews.  Until then we’ll see.  Maybe Jim can keep things rolling.

What a test! Tasting beer for flavor nuances with a stuffy nose is a great concept. I think you’ve stumbled upon a whole new rating scale. Feel better soon!

I have really had it with this thing! I think it was more out of desperation than a good idea, but perhaps it could be a barometer for when I’m actually feeling better! Better go pick up a six pack.

Don, I feel your pain. I’ve been ‘offline’ with a nasty headcold for almost 3 weeks!!!! I feel like I’ve basically missed the whole Christmas beer season as a result! My pal @ work keeps telling me to eat hot chilis. I’m thinking maybe some of those wacky chili beers might do the trick!

Well I’m feeling much improved today—FINALLY! I actually had a dram of Whiskey last night and i think I picked up on just about all of the flavor profile. I have three Christmas brews to review so I’ll have to work quick to get them all in by Thursday!
