I, like Mike am not a huge ginger fan. I do like a bit with my sushi though. In fact, I've nearly vomited from left hand's ginger beer. blah. (but I do like the soda, ginger ale). That being said, the cake looks good, and I'd like to give it a whirl. mmmmm....beer broiled brats....now that' sup my alley I can’t bake for the life of me…I can cook, just not bake.

If you're not a ginger fan, then I defiantly recommend a little caramel sauce and whipped cream. It brings out the richness in the cake which pushes the ginger to the background. But she really didn't love the cake, as old fashioned ginger flavor isn't her thing. My three year old daughter loved it though, which I thought was pretty cool. She has an impressive palate for a little kid and loves all sorts of complex flavors. She was stealing kalamata olives off my plate when she was 1. A little foodie, that one. No, she was all for it.
